Frequently Asked Questions

When should I book my newborn session?

As soon as possible, once you are comfortable scheduling your due date. We will schedule your true day and time after baby arrives but this will make sure I am available for your session as I do only book a limited number of sessions per month.

How do I reserve my session?

Once you choose to book your session, we will pencil in your due date and sign all the papers. I also ask a $150 non-refundable retainer to book your session. This retainer goes toward the time and talent of the photographer and is separate from any and all product orders.

Do you charge extra for twins or more?

I do not. I feel you are already purchasing two or more of everything in life and you should not need to for your photos. I will allow for a little extra time in your session to make sure we get great images of your babies together and separate.

Are digital images included?

Digital files are not included with the retainer. I do provide a digital copy of any image with your purchase of a wall art product, and your gallery of web ready files with the purchase of an album or folio box.

Do you accept payments?

Yes, I am happy to accept payments for up to one year from your session date. I will wait until you have paid in full before ordering any products.

Where do the props come from?

I can supply all of the props we decide we want to use in the session from any blankets and wraps to bonnets or tutus. You are also welcome to bring a few props of your own that mean something to your family.

Who provides the cake?

You can provide the cake or I can provide the cake. If you choose to purchase a cake please make sure it is not frozen. There is nothing that stops a cake smash faster than a frozen cake. If you choose to have me make your cake, we will discuss the theme and style of the cake as well as the filling. I also do create a non-edible custom clay cake topper as another keepsake for your session.

Where can I get a birthday board?

I am happy to make a birthday board for you. The ones I create are 15x20 inches. I am happy to do custom themes and colors as requested. This will be yours as a keepsake of your little ones birthday and session. Birthday boards are an additional $75

What happens if my baby is more that 10 days old?

I am happy to hold a newborn session up to 6 weeks of age (preemie babies longer). Please know your baby will be less likely to sleep as soundly and go into the squishy poses.

How long is the session?

Newborn sessions typically last between 2-4 hours depending on how well the baby sleeps and interacts with the camera as well as how many family images I choose to take.

Documentary sessions vary in length based on the session you purchase.  Tradition sessions are 2 hours and are perfect to document a special tradition in your home, anything from bath time to gingerbread house making. Half day sessions are 6 hours which is perfect to document your morning, afternoon or evening rituals. And full day sessions are 12 hours which take us from wake up to bed time, documenting a full day in your family life.

All other sessions are 1 hour.

How many people can I bring?

Standard sessions include two parents and all children. If you would like to add more family members including grandparents, an additional fee may be required.
